Going on Holidays?

The Pure Water Systems Blog

Are you planning a holiday and leaving your home for a period of time? When heading off on holidays there are often things that we must do at home to prepare.

If you own a water filtration or purification system, there is one very important housekeeping job to do before you take off on holiday…Turn off the isolation (iso) valve/tap on your system!

Turning off the Isolation tap

Turning off the Isolation tap is one of the most effective leak prevention methods when away from home for an extended period of time. Fortunately, it is a simple process that can prevent leaks underneath your kitchen sink.

Simply turn off the isolation tap in 4 easy steps:

1. Locate the isolation tap underneath the kitchen bench. For most PWS systems, it looks like this.

There are other types of isolation tap so if you are unsure, please contact us on 1300 808 966.

2. Once you have located the isolation tap, open the filtered water tap so that filtered water free flows from the tap into the sink.

3. Turn off the isolation tap. PWS supplied iso taps are a ¼ turn tap, so you turn the cap 90 degrees in a clockwise direction.

4. Water should stop flowing from the filtered water tap. If it doesn’t, check to see you have isolated the correct tap.

Having this turned off while you are away will give you peace of mind, significantly reducing the chances of a system leak whilst you are away enjoying your holiday.

Returning from holiday

Upon returning from your holiday, it is an equally simple process to turn the isolation tap back on.

Remember to run water for a minimum of 30 seconds to flush your cartridge… and just like that you are back to enjoying fresh filtered water at the turn of a tap!
